NSF Tour of the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS)
We are very grateful to our partner and corporate sponsor, Mission Support and Test Services (MSTS), for hosting the 2025 NSF Members Tour of the Atomic Museum and the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).
Due to the government shutdown and in the best interest of our participants, this trip has been postponed to early 2026. We look forward to offering this trip and remain committed to delivering a special tour of the NNSS and DRI.
Requirements: Tour is limited to 30 people, so sign up soon! Registration will close on Wednesday, October 15. You must be an active NSF member (or a guest of a current member) and a U.S citizen.
Itinerary:
- Tues 28 October – NSF tour participants arrive in Las Vegas.
- Wed 29 October – Morning: NSF Hybrid Forum hosted at the Desert Research Institute (Las Vegas) with DRI scientists, focused on modernizing the nuclear arsenal, military readiness, and training (2nd floor above the Atomic Museum). Afternoon: tour of the Atomic Museum.
- Thurs 30 October – NSF group picked up at the Embassy Suites LV to tour the NNSS. Tour focused on future technologies for nuclear weapons, counterterrorism, and counter-proliferation. Return to the hotel in the evening.
- Fri 31 October – NSF tour participants depart Las Vegas.
Hotel: NSF participants are encouraged to book accommodations at the Embassy Suites LV (4315 University Center Dr.). The Embassy Suites LV is an 8-minute walk to the Atomic Museum and DRI.
Those choosing alternative accommodations must arrange to arrive at the Embassy Suites no later than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time on the 30th.
Cost: $100 base rate — plus a voluntary contribution to the 2026 Youth Security Forum in appreciation of this special opportunity.
Participants cover their own travel arrangements and expenses in Las Vegas, excluding breakfast and lunch provided at DRI on October 29. Lunch on October 30 is a no-host.
