We hope everyone in our NSF community is staying safe during these challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Much has happened during the last six weeks since Dr. Wilson presented our last in-person NSF meeting and NSF, like everyone else, is making the transition to virtual programming. We thought it only fitting to begin our on-line programs with an update from the COVID-19 frontlines in Nevada.

Dr. Wilson will start our program with a medical intelligence update on the COVID-19 pandemic and insight into how the SARS-CoV-19 virus has spread since December 2019 until today. He will also share his thoughts one where it (and we) can expect to go from here. As of today (Mon 20 April) the world has recorded nearly 2.5million cases with the U.S. recording the most cases (rapidly approaching 800,000 and close to 42,000 deaths). Much has happened in Nevada, the U.S., and globally since we announced Dr. Wilson’s talk for 12 March and the U.S. had a mere 65,000 cases and 1,400 deaths.

To put all this into perspective, Dr. Wilson will be joined by a panel of experts on the COVID-19 response in Nevada including Mike Matthews (DHS/CISA, Protective Security Agent for NV, and COVID-19 Lead) and Dr. Chris Lake (ED, Nevada Hospital Association). Also invited to participate is NSF’s own Caleb Cage who has assumed new responsibilities as the Incident Commander for the COVID-19 Mission for the Nevada National Guard. Our panelists will each give a brief overview of COVID-19 operations in their areas and then respond to your questions.
