Summit of the Americas: Obama Meets Castro
Colleagues: Great timing for our Forum on Latin America with Ambassador Jeff Davidow this Friday given this weekend’s “Summit of the Americas”. That session was noteworthy for the Obama-Castro meeting, the first time a Cuban and American President have met since 1956!
While that meeting was productive and friendly (Castro had good things to say about Obama and criticized those attacking the U.S. President!), Obama did have other meetings on the sidelines that were more heated–including with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
